Time for update 2 in this now bimonthly series (because it turns out that this stuff is hard.)
I’m questioning a lot of things as I’m writing this. I feel like I’m in a never-ending tornado of side quests and, while I do like being busy constantly, I feel like sometimes it is worth it to take stuff off your plate.
Before I forget, Taking A Trip (Lex Wu’s Remix) releases in a few days (now, if you’re reading this after August 18th).
Some Random Work
So I’m writing this a day after I got back after a 7-hour flight from Frankfurt, a somewhat hectic ride on the AirTrain (if you can, take the AirTrain to Lefferts Boulevard and take the Q10 to Euclid or Kew Gardens – Union Turnpike. It’ll save you $8.25, but it’s a little slower), and a car ride up north. I’m a little frazzled, but that doesn’t stop me from getting work done.
After arriving, I now realise I have an obscene amount of projects on my hard drive not doing anything. So I’m going to start writing lyrics for songs so I can get them off my hard drive and onto your local music streaming platform.
I’ve finished rough-drafting the lyrics to three songs, started writing on a few more songs, and fine-tuned some more stuff. But that’s not interesting.
For some reason, WordPress isn’t letting me embed my latest Instagram post, so I’ll just give you the link. It details my release schedule for the next year or so.
Misc Music Stuff
Here’s a little more specifics.
- A Step and A Leap are both planned for release on the day of graduation in 2024 and 2025. It’s something I’ve been brainstorming since 2021, but it’s taken me this long to do something with that idea.
- Developing Connections is an album that I’m planning to release next year – but I really can’t release an album unless I have more than the amount of listeners I have. It might get delayed because of that, and also because I’m slow at writing songs.
- Flowing with the Wind is a release I’ve already scheduled out, so there’s no possible changes there.
- I might plan on releasing another EP in August 2024. Not sure, though.
Writing Some Stuff
I’ve been holding off on converting the screenplay of “The Funeral” into a book until now. But I’m now officially starting the work of doing that.
I’m not sure who would publish it (it’s something that really does belong on AO3 though), so I’d probably just publish it on Wattpad. (Yes, I have an account on Wattpad. Suprised?)
Unless I can realistically find people to help me with this little passion project of mine, I’m pretty sure it’s going to be dead on arrival.
My other screenplay is also on hold, because I need to prepare for a lot more stuff. (That’s right, school’s starting. Yippee. Also, my bank account is drained.)
Web Stuff
I spent a majority of the time (when I didn’t want to go outside… which is a lot of time) working on overhauling the backend of this website… kinda. If you made an account before, you’d just make an account out of this website. But now? You make an account on a separate website and then link it to this one. So much fun.
If you made an account before August 7th, you’ll probably want to register again.
It’s a platform I made so I can develop projects and use that separate website as a login platform.
Right now, this is the only website that supports it. (Right now… at least… more stuff coming soon.)
Mediocre Design Stuff
Replaced a logo with an oversimplified logo. So much fun.
I really don’t have much to talk about with these bimonthly things. Maybe I should switch to monthly? IDK.
Yes, I can read.
I brought Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli (yes, I got the Disney+ movie tie-in edition) on the trip, but until recently, I wasn’t able to find a good time to read it.
Then, I had to take a 7-hour trip from somewhere to somewhere else.
Honestly, it’s a great book to kill time, and it also explores something I’ve always wanted to explore as a writer. The idea that people need to conform to unnecessary standards is ridiculous.
Sure, people do need clothes, but why do a lot of us wear nuanced clothing? Why do we find it socially acceptable to point out someone who goes against the norm?
Honestly, great read. Would read it again on a car ride.
How to Pass Time
Rhythm Heaven Megamix
I also happened to bring my Nintendo 3DS and I feel like people don’t give the Rhythm Heaven series enough credit for its music.
One of the best parts of this is how each minigame just seamlessly transitions to the next. I don’t know how they get the music to just… morph into the next tune.
Also, each one of the minigames has a recognizable theme. EACH AND EVERY ONE. I don’t know how they do it.
Here’s a sentence that almost no one will relate to: Right-Hand Remix is the superior remix. Left-Hand remix has nothing on it. Left-Hand is boring and nothing can convince me otherwise.
I was also thinking about how you could probably play the music from Citrus Remix at a dance and probably no one would notice.
Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright
I became absolutely obsessed with this game for some reason. Maybe it’s because the puzzles are fun?
The only spoiler I can give is that the story in this game is really screwed up. If you’ve played it, you know.
Also, the music. Absolutely great. I didn’t realise Phoenix Wright needed an orchestral take on the soundtrack until now.
Final Notes
I’m off to deal with a lot of stuff very soon. Y’know, all the stuff that comes with joining too much at once and not setting your boundaries straight?
At least I got a parking spot.
Costs $150 though.
My bank account is already drained enough. Damnit.
Farewell from my home. I really don’t know what to say here.
